Why Someone is Close to you?

Take a moment to look at the faces around you. Each one is troubled, not because of themselves, but because of someone else, and that someone else is usually the one who is sitting next to them. Why is it that for the majority of us, problems stem from the ones closest to us – friends, spouse, children, parents? Why is it that they are with us in their specific form in this lifetime?

To find an answer, let us go back to the time when you had not taken this form, the time before you were born, when you were in another body but around the same people. You had exactly the same relationships then, and you will be surprised that they were exactly the same faces. If you look at a very old family album, at the pictures of two or three generations before you, you will find an amazing similarity in the looks and features. So these are the same people, who were there with you at that point of time, and who have come again in your life.

You, however, were alone back then and now also you are alone. None of these people were with you at that time, nor is anybody with you right now. Not just the people, even your own body is not there with you. A proof of this is that you looked very different when you were born, to how you were as an adolescent, to how you are right now in adulthood, to how you will be in your old age, to how you will look when you are dead and how you will look in the next body. Your own body is changing, with every passing second.

Medically, they say, that every seven years, every single cell of your body dies and a new one comes in its place, which implies after a seven year period, you are a completely different person. Seven years from now, the body which you associate yourself with, will be a completely different body. This is proof that you are not just this body. What you perceive yourself as, what you think you are when you look at the mirror, how you relate to yourself, it is very clear that you are definitely not just that.

You are only a frequency conducive to the desire of your soul. People who you are with or you desire, are the frequency which complement your present frequency. As this frequency changes, you will desire something/someone else. The question is when it changes, this lifetime or the next, change it will and seven years is a basic period. Not only does the body change, but also, your feelings, thoughts and emotions towards the people whom you are with, changes in a seven year period. I have done a lot of experiments on this, I have a lot of statistics and data of married people, families, friends, close associates and my inference has always been the same. Mostly the change starts to manifest in the fifth year and by the end of seventh year, there is a complete change of form.

Coming back to the mechanism or philosophy behind you taking birth, in your present form, among the people around you. All our relationships are based on a give and take. Whenever you give or take something, you either create a debit or credit in your karmic balance sheet. At the time of leaving the body, your karmic balance sheet is scrutinized and on the basis of that, people whom you troubled the most are sent back with you in the next birth and then they trouble you the most. There was a news story some years ago where a boy born in a quaint town in Uttar Pradesh, India went and complained in the police station against his own father. The allegation was, that his father murdered him in his previous birth in the same village. The boy was born with a scar on his forehead, and he was able to describe how the father had murdered him, the murder weapon, time and location. We did a little research and found that in fact the details matched to a case booked in the local police station.

At Dhyan Ashram, sadhaks have visited their past-lives and found that the treatment they are getting right now, the pain and trauma that they are going through, is exactly the same as they had treated someone else in their past life. Whatever they had done, was coming back to them, in the same form, by the same person.

This is the reason why yogis move to the mountains after a point of time and why Patanjali said ‘yogah chitta vritti nirodh  (yog is stilling of the modifications of mind). The state yog is termed as vairagya (detachment)When the vrittis of mind get settled, there is no give and take, and that is when you achieve the state of detachment. Vairagya does not mean to run away; it is not escapism. The rishi and munis who took to the mountains in the earlier times, would come to help their near and dear ones when and if a need arose in their family, but they were not attached to the play. As one achieves the state of vairagya, the karmas become stable, that is the state of moksha. That is the time when nobody troubles you; nobody can trouble you and also, you do not trouble anyone.

When you leave this body (which you think is you), nobody will keep you even for a day, no matter how beautiful, radiant you are, no matter how much they love you or how good you were, no matter how close they are to you. The same people will pick you and put you on the fire or bury you. This is a fact of life.

There is a simple test to see how much your near and dear ones actually love you is to stop giving them what you are regularly giving them. No matter how close they are to you, how much they love or revere you, they will turn their face away or there will at least be a clash. This indicates that ultimately those who are around you are there because you are keeping them happy. It is this same give and take that you have carried from your previous lifetimes, for which you have taken birth in the family that you have. And that is the reason they are troubling you, or if you ask them, you are troubling them.

So strive for the state of vairagya, the state of absolute nothingness. It does not mean you miss out on any aspect of life. You don’t have to stop eating, drinking, socializing. You continue doing whatever you are doing but always remember that it is the body which is doing it and you are just experiencing that. All the relations, all friends etc. are of this body; they are not yours. When one is taken through his past lives, he realizes how redundant this present life is, as everything that is happening to him, has happened already by him to someone else.

Becoming a yogi or achieving the state of vairagya is not easy, it won’t happen just by listening or reading. It requires intense practice. Sanatan kriya takes care of most of a person’s emotional baggage; then nobody can disturb you.

Let me give you one simple kriya here to finish off your karmic connections faster. In your pranic body, at the geometric centre of the Manipoorak and the Anahad chakra, lies a highly volatile chakra called the Surya chakra or the Solar Plexus. Its location corresponds roughly to the Thymus gland in the body, which is the gland that boosts your immunity and keeps disease at bay. Through the Surya chakra, a being constantly forms connections with each and every person/thing/occasion that enters his/her life in the form of narrow tubes, and this congests the Surya chakra. Once the region is congested, free flow of prana is restricted and the chakra becomes highly volatile and starts behaving like the Sun, moving very fast. This damages the local organs including the Thymus compromising the immunity of the body and causing disease to enter. To keep disease at bay, the person needs to decongest the solar plexus. It is a four step process:

  1. Keep your palms facing each other, at the level of the diaphragm, about six inches away from the body. Gently move the palms closer to each other and then apart and so on and see if you get any sensation. The sensation that you get, is your Solar chakra. Having felt the Solar Plexus, clean it with your right palm by rotating the hand in a counter-clockwise direction in front of the chakra and directing the heavy prana towards a bowl containing sea-salt dissolved in water. The sea-salt has the ability to break and transform this heaviness, lest it goes and sticks to something/ someone else;
  2. Now, cut the connections with the person/thing/event that is troubling you. This is a little dangerous; so before you do it, you should be sure that you really want to do it because that person/thing will surely go away. Close your eyes and think about the person and cut off all the connections using your hand as a knife that is cutting the tubes that connect you with him/her and the person will definitely go far away from you. It is a science of energy. If you have a Guru and you ask to cut the connection, then it will happen not 99% but 100%. Once this is done, wash your hands and no matter how much you want to, do not think about this person for at least two hours;
  3. Since you removed something from your body in the last two steps, you have created a void of energy inside you. The next step is to fill this void. The best time to do this is at sunrise or sunset, when the colour of sun is pinkish orange. At this time Surya chakra is most receptive. At this time, look at the Sun directly (A warning here, do not look at the Sun while bright, best to learn the kriya under supervision and not do it on your own) and bring both your hands in front of the Surya chakra, facing outwards. Be aware of the form of your Guru in front you and go within you, to the Surya chakra. Just smile at the Sun and your Guru, take some deep breaths and have the awareness that all the prana, which your palms are receiving, is going towards the Surya chakraand filling up that void.

Emotional congestion is like a time bomb set inside you, without which a human being can become immortal. This technique is very powerful but this is not a permanent solution. By this process you can physically remove what is troubling you, but you cannot change your karma. As a result, the problems will come in some other way because your karmic balance sheet is still on the debit side. So the only permanent solution is to go from the debit side towards credit side and for that, you need to improve your karmas.
