Caroline Ratner spoke to leading London based Theta Healer, Debbie Talalay who has practised as a Homeopath for over 20 years and is also an NLP Master Practitioner.

Debbie Talalay

Theta Healing is a simple, safe, yet powerful non-invasive therapy that reprogrammes entrenched negative belief patterns. It works on our energy systems to identify, remove and replace toxic beliefs, held either consciously or unconsciously in our bodies at a cellular level.

Many of us have deeply held negative beliefs that drive us and stop us living our best lives despite our efforts to change. Or as Albert Einstein so succinctly put it "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". It doesn't have to be that way. Theta healing works quickly to clear those blocks and for many the results are instantaneous and transformative on an emotional, mental, spiritual and physical level and once underlying beliefs have been changed, then your life can begin to change.

How did you become a Theta Healer?
I received it from a friend, and in the space of an hour cleared long standing blocks; it cleared stuff that I thought had been cleared and I felt a difference, there was a feeling of peace as a result. I was so impressed that a few weeks later I trained as a Theta Healer - and so far the results - both for physical disease and emotional states, have been nothing short of miraculous. Theta Healing is easy, very fast, safe and highly effective, it is becoming the major part of my practice.

Theta Healing is a way of reprogramming the patterns held in our belief systems to something which supports you instead of undermining you. It works on our energy systems and our emotional beliefs; the effects can be instantaneous and should be permanent unless there are supporting beliefs which maintain the cleared programme in which case they return. It clears underlying negative patterns and beliefs, often ones that are operating at an unconscious level but drive us to live in a certain way that doesn't work for us.

A useful analogy is that the brain is like a computer that holds a lot of software: some supports you, some undermines you and then you have the viruses. My job as a theta healer is to reprogramme the beliefs to something that supports you to allow who you really are to shine through unhampered by negativity. Doesn't mean to say that we will live life in a permanent state of bliss once we've been healed; the premise is that what you are holding in your belief system is what you are going to get reflected back by the Universe. So if you think life is unfair, then you will be at the receiving end of quite a bit of unfairness. When you change what you believe, your life changes as a result.

There are two branches of Theta healing: one concentrates on transforming physical conditions, which is how Vianna Stibal, the founder of Theta healing healed herself of a cancerous growth in her leg. She discovered that by connecting to the Creator Of All That Is that she could change her beliefs at cellular level, which subsequently cleared the illness from her body.

The other branch concentrates on healing emotional issues. It has long been understood that many of our physical diseases are manifestations of emotional blocks. In my practice I don't concentrate on the physical aspects of people's illnesses because I know from experience that once we change the beliefs we hold in the body as unexpressed emotions, then a lot of the physical symptoms simply disappear.

People punish themselves with guilt and unhappiness and hold this torment and punishment in their bodies which receives this punishment as disease, illness and psychological problems. I have found that with Theta healing, people get better when their beliefs shift.

As with all these beliefs, the reality of people's lives are a reflection of beliefs and my job is to get to the reasons why people hold on to these beliefs and clear them.

I had a client, a Personal Trainer, who came to see me with long term neck and back problems. He'd been to numerous medical professionals and while he'd feel better for awhile, the problem would always return. Eventually his chiropractor told him she thought the issue was emotional and recommended me. Within four sessions his neck and back problems were cured and he started exercising again and was pain free. We worked together for quite a while and he cleared a number of long standing emotional issues and says that his life has changed for the better since he worked with me.

Theta Healing targets the cause of the disease/ behaviour or problem. It works by resolving the deepest and most entrenched grief and fears and negative thinking in a matter of moments. With Theta Healing the unconscious mind can be reprogrammed to hold beliefs and thinking which will support a healthy body and mind. It will even allow you to create more of what you wish for in your life.

Can you Describe the Healing Process to Me?
Clients come to me and usually their issues are emotional, but sometimes they are physical and caused by emotional issues, so the immediate task is to start investigating their beliefs. So, for example, someone might come and say that they can't concentrate or that they procrastinate, or that they have money issues, weight issues or issues with relationships. I then ask a series of questions to get to the beliefs that drive them. Many people are often surprised when they discover the beliefs they hold and that are holding them back. Some beliefs are from our childhood, some from our family and some from our social group or religion.

It's a process and once we work out what the beliefs are, I use kinesiology (muscle testing) to access the unconscious mind to test whether these beliefs are true. The unconscious mind knows everything about you, how the body works and all the thoughts you hold. You can have a "yes/no" conversation with the unconscious mind through the means of Kinesiology and find out what the true state of affairs is. I will come up with a statement that describes a belief a client has voiced and get the client to repeat it back to me, for example a lot of people believe that they are unlovable, so I will get them to repeat the phrase "I am unlovable" and I will test the muscles to see if they hold this belief the unconscious mind. Then I will start the healing process. I do this by accessing my Theta brainwaves and going up to the Creator of All That Is. The healer asks for the healing to take place and acts to facilitate and witness the healing. After the healing I re-test the muscles, using the phrase to get a negative or positive response. I do this to the client to say, "I am lovable" and if we get a positive response from the muscle testing then that issue is cleared. However sometimes the healing has taken place but sometimes the muscle testing shows that the issue is still "sticking" a bit and there's not a definitive yes or no response. We then have to delve deeper to find out what is underlying the initial belief, and then we go through the process again until the issues have been completely cleared.

You can think of each platform of beliefs like a trampoline tethered to its frame by strings. Each belief is tethered by a whole supporting set of belief, and one must cut the strings, or enough for the client to start noticing the difference. Theta works by clearing all the bits around it.

How do People React to the Healing?
Most people say that they feel lighter, that a burden has been lifted. Many are surprised to realize just how destructive and negative their underlying beliefs were. Very often people are astonished to discover what beliefs are driving them. Often high powered women will find out that they actually believe, on some level that they feel inferior to men. This is of course not conscious, but has possibly been programmed unconsciously from childhood, or is a family belief that they've absorbed.

The healing takes place at a cellular level which means that when you reprogramme your beliefs about yourself and your life at that level, you will find that the constant undertow of negativity that most of us live with disappears. And once the underlying negativity has been cleared, then your life can start to change.

Another client, Claudia was sent by a friend. Claudia was not doing well. She'd had a miscarriage, split up with her long term partner and was heartbroken and was having problems with her business which had been badly affected by the recession; she was worried she was going to have to close the business and move back to her family in Germany. After just a few sessions, Claudia had a remarkable turn around and in the six months since she came to see me her life has changed completely. She's fallen in love, is engaged to be married and her business is booming, to the point that she's been working 13 hour days and has had to take on an assistant. Like many of my clients, Claudia was shocked to discover some of the beliefs she was holding at a cellular level and how once they were cleared, how quickly her life changed.

Do Clients Need Many Sessions?
Theta Healing is fast, easy and extremely effective, but how long clients come for depends on where people are when they come to see me and where they want to go. For some there are instant results, some just have short bursts. For others it's an ongoing process, and results are instant, but some people have more issues come up once they have cleared the issues they first came to see me about, and so then we go to work on those.

Do you have to Believe in it for it to Work?
Not at all, it's not about having faith; it works because the healing is conducted through the theta brainwaves and changes are made at a cellular level and you can check it works using kinesiology. Most come in sceptical but this is not something that works because you believe it, it's not faith healing or aura work. Kinesiology muscle testing checks and confirms that the desired results have been achieved.

Does it ever not Work?
It usually does; the vast majority come away feeling better about themselves and about their lives, but I have found that people are sometimes not ready and don't want to make it work.

What are the Main Issues you Deal With?
There are so many, but common issues are feeling unworthy, low self esteem, relationships with parents, feeling unloved or not good enough, or over criticised, lack of confidence, feeling like a fraud - all these issues can be cleared with Theta Healing.

Lots of beliefs are driven by people's cultural framework and beliefs can go down through generations. For example, religious beliefs that are ingrained like "I'm more acceptable to God if I suffer".

Body image, addictions, you name it, people come to me with all these issues and we get to the bottom of the problem and I've seen incredible changes when people have identified and cleared and replaced the beliefs that were driving them.

Lots of people have deeply ingrained money issues and I have seen many high powered men with business problems who used to be money magnates, but have lost the Midas touch and then wonder what has happened, and we uncover the beliefs. I have very successful men terrified that they got to where they got by sheer luck. Barristers, hedge fund managers and they have huge confidence issues which manifest as tactless and aggressive. Only when you start digging with these people that you find they are not confident at all.

Other people have money issues driven by beliefs like "money and power contaminate me and I'll become an arrogant and unfeeling person if I have money or power." Or "I will lose sight of my spirituality if I have money and power", "or money is the route of all evil", or "I don't deserve to have financial stability".

Many women have self-esteem and issues surrounding self-worth. I've had very high powered women discover that they feel inferior to men despite their achievements, or that "God doesn't love me", "women should be seen and not heard". They are usually horrified to discover what beliefs they hold unconsciously; these might have come from their family, their social grouping or something they absorbed as children.

Procrastination is another big issue in all sorts of things for so many people, the underlying beliefs are all different but the end result is procrastination. I recently had a university student who couldn't work or revise because she had no faith in herself so she kept putting off her studies and wasn't getting the results. It was all down to lack of confidence in her academic prowess. She had a few sessions with me and now she's doing so much better than she's ever done before, and she's done really well in her exams and started revising early.

Can Anyone Become a Theta Healer?
There are three day training courses which will teach people the technique and help clear out their own issues. But you don't get the additional training needed to practise the therapy as a professional, though a lot of it is intuitive for some people. The idea of doing this is to awaken up your intuition so that you can download the next belief for the person, which happens more easily for some than others. I'd discourage people to do the training to be a theta healer unless they have a therapeutic background or are experienced therapists who want to incorporate Theta Healing into their practice.

I believe you need to be a therapist to know how to look deeper in ways that are meaningful for the client. So the courses, although excellent in themselves, are not long enough to incorporate what students learn on longer course which teach professionalism, how the human mind behaves and so what to look for, and also very important - what is legal and what isn't.

The course are a great and cost effective route for individuals who want to quickly clear their issues but I would advise them to see an experienced therapist after the training if they want more healing and to not practise without further training.

My advice is to always check a Theta Healer's experience before going to see them and see someone with a therapeutic background.
