Intravenous Vitamin C May Not be Mainstream Medicine But Could Save Your Life
Death from infection or sepsis is on the increase. There will be an estimated 20,000 deaths in the UK this year from bacteria that the doctors cannot control with antibiotics. A recent claim by a doctor in Pennsylvania that 95% of these sepsis cases that would otherwise be fatal can be controlled by intravenous vitamin c has caused a flutter in the medical (read drug) world. The claim is “being investigated”, which is pharma speak for “let’s bury this”. My prediction is that after a few months a report will be issued that will tries to debunk the claim so things carry on as usual. It has happened before.
Dr Frederick Klenner (L), Munro Hall Clinic (C), Dr Bita Fox DDS MSc (R)
Dr Klenner who was the father of intravenous vitamin c treatments wrote extensively about his experience of successfully treating infections both viral and bacterial with IV-C in the 50s and 60s. He was persecuted for his pains. Not that he was ever proven to be wrong of course. His quote of:
“No infection cannot be cured by vitamin c if given in high enough doses and for long enough” is correct today as it was then. Witness the SARS victim in New Zealand who recovered from the brink of death after his family got a Court Order forcing the reluctant doctors to use IV-C as an example.
We have used intravenous vitamin c at the Munro-Hall Clinic since 1992 even though we are a dental clinic and can verify the safety and effectiveness of IV-C in fighting infections and removing toxins such as mercury from the body. We have given over 200grams vit c a day by iv without any problems at all.
Infections were no problem at all to Dr Klenner but when we tried to get a UK hospital to use IV-C the message was from the ethics dept of the hospital trust was :
“We will not use it because we never have”. This, even after presenting them with the science and offering to supply what was required free of charge.
The age of the super bug is finally upon us when the antibiotics are increasingly ineffective in dealing with life threatening infections. Bacteria cannot build resistance to Vit C contrary to antibiotics. Why IV-C has not been adopted widely by mainstream medicine must be down to ignorance, apathy and fear of using a vitamin instead of a drug. Intravenous vitamin c is safe and effective; let us hope that if you need it to save your own or a loved one’s life, you don’t have to get a Court Order first.
Dr Bita Fox DDS MSc New Proprietor of MunroHall Clinic trained as a dentist in Sweden and has had a great deal of experience working as a general dentist here in the UK and in Australia. Is There Life In The Bones? - A Biography of Dr Fritz Smith and Zero Balancing
by David Lauterstein CERT ZB LMT
The first biography in twenty-five years of one of the greatest innovators in mind body medicine and therapy has just been published by the Upledger Institute - Life in the Bones: A Biography of Dr. Fritz Smith and Zero Balancing. Dr Fritz Smith Osteopath MD Acupuncturist author and teacher is the originator of the fascinating hands-on therapy, Zero Balancing.
Dr Frederick “Fritz” Smith’s influences began with his father, Dr Ernest Smith, who founded in the 1920s the first four-year chiropractic college in the US. Fritz Smith acquired his Doctor of Osteopathy in 1955 and MD in 1962. He was trained in Rolfing by its originator, Ida Rolf, in the early days of the Esalen Institute in California. He acquired his Master in Acupuncture in Five-Element acupuncture studying over a seven-year period with JR Worsley in the UK Dr Smith also began, in the 1970s, extensive explorations of mindfulness therapies, meditation, and philosophy. Eventually he came to see that the deepest layers of tension as well as the most direct route to optimized health arise from the deepest structures and energy in the body, namely the bones, the joints connecting them, and their associated soft tissues.
This fascinating biography follows the life of Dr Smith through travels, studies and teaching in the U.S., Mexico, India, the U.K., Switzerland, the Sahara, China, Japan, and Peru. Life in the Bones is adventuresome in its scope, not only covering this life but also in explaining the ideas and practices underlying Zero Balancing, called “the most revolutionary development in bodywork today” by the Massage Therapy Journal.
Years ago, Aldous Huxley spoke about the critical need for study of the non-verbal humanities. As a culture we need to develop not only technological and scientific advances. We need to come up with answers for how to proceed as a society through innovative thinking, emotional clarity, compassion, and with effective strategies for individual and collective health. Life in the Bones: A Biography of Dr. Fritz Smith and Zero Balancing provides us with a great story, deep insights, and essential information to help us fulfill this greatest need of all.
An understanding of the unique attributes of both Fritz Smith, and the evolution of Zero Balancing, emerge illuminatingly from the multiple short segments of David Lauterstein’s sensitively crafted, part-biography, part assemblage of diverse historically-relevant mini-chapters. A thought-provoking read.

Theragem™ Fusion Light Gemcups Ease Depression, Enhance Health & Wellbeing
According to the World Health Organization, in the past 20 years the number of people suffering from depression has risen by 300%, while the world population grew only 40%. That makes depression one of the biggest challenges to health and well-being. The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) now lists suicide as the 10th leading cause of death in America, especially in adults between the age of 45 and 55; the numbers are growing opposite other countries with similar levels of quality of life where figures are reducing.
Depression Ease Gemcup: Blend of Lithium Quartz, Blue Sapphire, Jet, Apatite and Lapis Lazuli Gemstones
Over the years research has shown that the manipulation of brain waves with meditation, certain brain wave technologies and therapies do help to reduce stress from daily rush to PTSD, enhance creativity, repair of injuries of damaged brain, and improve (mental) health.
Similar experience has shown that a session with the non-invasive Theragem™ Fusion Light technology standard Elation session time and time again draws out tiredness and fatigue allowing for positive change to take place. With sleep improving as of the first session, the undeniable and positive easing into a calmness and restful state of mind allows new information to be taken in, stress levels reduce, anxiety disappearing.
Ongoing Theragem therapy sessions in which the whole body is addressed, experts and medical feedback have shown that with specific protocols (a mixture of gems, colour, frequencies) mental and emotional issues can be easily addressed and dissolved by a skilled therapist in often less than 6 hourly sessions. A selection of Gemcups has been created for different ailments and conditions, to enhance the body’s own healing mechanism for a much faster yet gentler wellness and wellbeing. Gems and crystals have been utilised throughout man’s history for medicinal purposes, as they contain natural mineral elements and have their own electromagnetic frequency that resonates with the human electromagnetic field. The carrier of light and Herz frequency will pass the information on to the human biofield with painless penetration over 20 centimetres into the physical body.
It is with this background of modern technology and ancient wisdom fusing easing depression with specific gems and colours. The hand sorted blend of the Depression Ease gemcup is formulated to help with the symptoms and causes of mild, moderate and clinical depression, resulting in gently uplifting, infusing optimism and renewing spiritual energy. Surprisingly, it contains Lithium Quartz used in previous years as an anti-depressant. Lithium Quartz is part of the large quartz family of gemstones containing amounts of naturally occurring lithium, which has a natural tranquillising effect. Meanwhile, energetic experts state lithium quartz emits a deep loving and healing feel. Following that Blue Sapphire gems are considered a master healer, and Ayurvedic scriptures attribute to sapphire a stone of joy, used to deeply relax the mind, body and spirit. Added to this is a glossy Jet, a black gemstone formed of fossilised wood, which helps to dispel dark, fearful or violent thoughts. The gemstone Apatite gently overcomes blockages and any sense of loss and confusion often associated with depression, whilst Lapis Lazuli gems can help to overcome depression by easing and releasing feelings of low self-esteem and promoting harmony in relationships.
The results of clinical experience by medical specialists show repeated successful results; case studies from our Theragem therapist support the above. Additionally it is the most loved therapy by the patients due to its gentle non-invasive approach. It is the powerful fusion of the earth’s elements that allow the body to bring itself back into a harmonious balanced state of optimum homeostasis, truly bringing back health and wellbeing, non-invasively.
Exemplary feedback from a patient with depression:
“I was always a keen & regular cyclist, but 12 months ago I started to cycle less and less until I totally stopped in August 2012. At this time I was diagnosed with depression and fatigue by my local doctor and put onto prescribed medication. After 6 months of never quite feeling myself on medication, I discovered Theragem and with only a few therapies I began to feel more like my old self, with more energy and a better outlook on life.
Within 4 weeks of using Theragem, I was able to stop taking the prescribed medication and found myself with more energy, a positive attitude and a desire to get back out on the bike.
6 months have now passed and I am back to regularly cycling at least 3-4 times per week. I feel much better about life and I have a much more positive outlook.”

Why is Seaweed and Salt, Better than Salt?
Salt has about 60% chloride and 40% sodium. Depending on the source there is at most a few percent variation, with unprocessed sea salt, or ‘rock’ salt mined from land which was once a sea bed, containing tiny amounts of some 60 trace minerals.
Seagreens® wild Wrack species Ascophyllum nodosum with natural sea salt, courtesy of Seagreens Trust
Wild ‘Wrack’ seaweeds which are prolific around the Atlantic shores of the British Isles and Nordic region contains all the minerals and trace elements, balancing sodium intake to such an extent that research has shown a 50% salt, 50% Wrack seaweed blend to be an antidote in rats fed 100% salt at levels causing heart failure.[1] Mixing salt and seaweed ‘half and half’ retains the salty taste but adds complexity to flavour and broad nutritional value, with significant benefits to health. Placing this in the context of everyday land foods shows the significance of this data, when we know that since 1940 farmed meat lost 54% of its iron and 41% of its calcium, while vegetables lost on average 50% calcium, 25% iron and magnesium, and 76% copper and zinc.[2] I have written about the rebalancing potential of seaweed elsewhere in this publication (www.positivehealth.com/author/simon-ranger).
The brown Wrack seaweeds also add the fifth ‘umami’ flavour characterized by depth and complexity, largely because it contains natural glutamic acid - for which it has been found there are receptors in the digestive tract as well as the mouth - of special benefit in dietary care of the elderly. Umami has been shown to significantly increase salivation and taste, which in turn improves digestion. Where these are compromised - meaning that taste and therefore interest in food is lost - seaweed mixed with salt or as a ground food ingredient, can help restore appetite, weight gain, and general health.[3]
These are some of the advantages. On the other side of the coin are the risks associated with sodium imbalance. There are specific concerns which focus on a particular health concern, but more widely salt is held to be a significant factor in the inset of a range of conditions which may be the progenitors of cardiovascular disease. A Japanese study published in the British Journal of Cancer, indicated the risk of stomach cancer in men consuming 12-15g salt per day to be double that of men on a low-salt intake of 4-6g per day. The risk for women was slightly more than half of that for men.[4]
In 2015 a major international review of research into seaweed nutrition, concluded that a range of different seaweed species could play a valuable role in the amelioration of the principal risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease - in addition to the reduction of dietary salt.[5]
In 2017 the same authors reviewed how the consumption of seaweeds might affect brain health, concluding that “the moderate consumption of a diet fortified with macroalgae” (seaweeds) “have the capacity to help in the defence of human cognitive disorders such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, depression, bipolar diseases, and adverse conditions characterized by progressive neurodegeneration”.[6]
Additional benefits have been identified in more than 7 years of independent research conducted in Seagreens® wild seaweed species, including weight regulation through its effect on appetite,[7] nutrient absorption due to its natural prebiotic value in digestion,[8] and the value of other specific ‘seaweed’ nutrients such as iodine.[9]
In conclusion, surely this combination of salt and Seagreens® is a ‘no-brainer’?

Altrient Liposomal Glutathione - Ultimate Cell Protector
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant enzyme that we make in every cell in our body and is a significant component of our antioxidant defence system. High concentrations are produced in the liver where it plays a central role in ridding the body of harmful pollutants and protecting the tissues and cells from free radical damage. Despite being a very small protein made up of three key amino acids lysine, cysteine and glutamine, Glutathione is a highly potent antioxidant and is therefore vital for health. It is amongst the most efficient substances used by cells and tissues throughout the body in their defence against oxidative stress. For this reason it is often referred to as the ‘Master Detoxifier’. It is particularly active in tissues that are most susceptible to toxicity such as the brain, kidneys, liver, heart, lungs, skin and eyes.
Why Altrient Liposomal Glutathione is Different
Most ordinary forms of glutathione - tablets, capsules, powders, liquids and even dietary sources are of little benefit as they are unable to withstand the digestive processes in the body and absorption levels are poor. Until recently, intravenous delivery of glutathione has proven to be the most effective route for absorption, but this method is both costly and impractical. Fortunately, Altrient Glutathione uses a clinically proven liposomal glutathione called Setria® offering significant advantages.
Setria® glutathione is the purest and safest form of glutathione, produced using a patented fermentation process. Altrient Glutathione is encapsulated within layers of essential phospholipids called liposomes. These form a protective membrane around the contents, allowing almost 100% bio-availability. The tiny liposomal bubbles can by-pass the digestive juices and deliver the glutathione straight to the cells. This oral formula offers a simple and efficient way to increase the body’s levels of glutathione without the inconvenience and cost of intravenous administration.
Scientists agree that Glutathione status within the cells is a very good indicator of the cells overall health and its ability to fight toxins. Without glutathione, red cells die, white cells can’t function effectively and nerve tissue degenerates.
What Glutathione Does In The Body
- It helps to stimulate cell regeneration;
- It detoxifies harmful substances in the intestines before they reach the blood circulation;
- It improves liver function and is critical for liver detoxification processes;
- It plays a major role in the functioning of immune cells;
- It re-cycles other antioxidants like vitamin C and E;
- It controls inflammation by inhibiting the production of inflammatory substances;
- It plays a critical role in enhancing energy metabolism;
- It promotes optimal cellular health.

Mental Health Issue or Healthy Emotional Response!!
We all have the potential to become stressed, overwhelmed and depressed and be diagnosed with a Mental Health problem. These problems are becoming more recognized but the traditional means of dealing with them are far from successful. What if… we could reduce the chance of stress, overwhelming situations, loss, bereavement and depression developing into mental health problems?
What if… anxiety and depression were our body and mind’s way of telling us that we need to allow ourselves to heal. Telling us that we are holding onto or suppressing issues? What if there were tools and techniques we can learn to use, that could help us feel empowered to deal with life and our reactions to it? I have always had the greatest faith in Dr Bach’s essences not just through using them for clients and delegates – but for my own healing. Their gentle but profound effects are wonderful tools that help us to release negative emotions and raise our vibration to a more positive emotional vibration.
Here at Energy Works… in response to the increased need to help people release their negative responses and feel in control of their lives, we have 2 main workshops, that we deliver to groups for effective self-help, and to therapists as self-support and to use with their clients. My purpose is to inspire as many practitioners, therapists and carers to be able to use these essences, effectively, efficiently and to every ones benefit - including themselves and empower them to have the ability and understanding to respond to problems. These essences have been my constant companion through all the setbacks and the challenges that life throws at all of us.
Our current unique courses look specifically at the essences in relation to the chakras. (See our book www.amazon.co.uk/Dr-Bachs-Flower-Remedies-Chakras/dp/190536704X ). This helps to identify essences for the 7 ages as well as bereavement issues and our creative processes. By working with the positive aspects of the plants and flowers we open up huge potential for using essences in our work.
Whether you are wanting to help yourself or are a therapist I feel we all have a duty to look after ourselves and we can only do that when we are in a position to take responsibility for ourselves (develop the ability to respond).

Saffrosun for Adults and Children
The number of cases of anxiety and depression recorded by the NHS has increased significantly over the last decade. Between 2005 and 2012, there was a 54% increase in the number of young people prescribed antidepressants in the UK, triggering the issue to be raised as a ‘matter of concern’ by the World Health Organization. Evidence shows that intervention is needed early to prevent these conditions persisting in adult life. Standard treatments include counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy and prescription medication. The latter can however have numerous unwanted side effects, and evidence shows that children as young as 6 have been prescribed antidepressants, such as fluoxetine, to manage their symptoms.
Formulated by a Parent, for Others in his Shoes
Saffrosun For Children was formulated following the personal experience of the founder of The Naked Pharmacy, Kevin Leivers, whose son, Aragon, now aged 6 was a hyperactive child who seemed not to need to sleep: “In 2015, we launched Saffrosun as a supplement for adults. Now, we are proud to announce a formulation that is welcomed by practitioners and parents as a nutritional support for children, which can be safely integrated with conventional medicines. When faced with a child or teenager who is nervous, has a low mood, or suffering from poor emotional balance, frequent tiredness and/or poor quality sleep, a high quality, correctly strength food-based supplement is an effective option to use alongside conventional approaches.”
Saffrosun for Children is a natural supplement that boosts the body’s levels of serotonin. Serotonin is a natural regulating hormone within the brain and gut, which regulates mood, sleep and energy levels. Low serotonin levels are linked with depression, anxiety, poor sleep and other conditions.
Saffrosun contain saffron, which is a spice derived from the crocus sativus flower. It is the thread-like reddish-coloured stigma of the flower that is valued as both a spice and a natural health remedy. Saffrosun for Children contains the world’s strongest premium-grade saffron extract sourced from Northern Spain. The warm Mediterranean climate possesses the perfect conditions to grow a saffron flower of the highest strength. Saffrosun for Children contains a standardized 3.5% of the bio-actives, compared to 0.3% in other commercially available products. The bio-actives are known collectively as Lepticrosalides and are clinically proven to improve psychological balance, tiredness, and helps treat tiredness or fatigue.
At The Naked Pharmacy, our experience has shown us that the spice works best when taken in the mornings, with or after food, and can be taken from children 6 years and older. A significant improvement in symptoms has been documented within five days of commencing Saffrosun. Saffrosun for Children is recommended for ages 6-14 yrs. Ages 14+ are advised to take the adult strength Saffrosun. These supplements are available at selected Pharmacies and Health Stores or online at www.thenakedpharmacy.com.

KETO FOR CANCER - Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy as a Targeted Nutritional Strategy
by Miriam Kalamian EdM MS CNS; Foreword by Thomas N. Seyfried PhD
Published by Chelsea Green Publishing. 2017. Softback £18.99 / $29.95. ISBN 978-1603587013.
Miriam Kalamian is a board-certified nutrition consultant and leading voice in the keto movement. Her passion for helping others implement a ketogenic diet comes directly from her personal experience when her son, Raffi, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2004. Standard of care therapies failed to stop the relentless progression of his disease, and it became painfully clear that she needed to switch gears quickly. That is what originally led to Dr Thomas Seyfried’s research supporting the use of a low-carb, high-fat diet for cancer.
Managing Raffi’s brain tumour with a ketogenic diet put Kalamian on the path to learning the science behind the therapy and helped her to face the many challenges she encountered as an advocate for her son. Keto for Cancer addresses the nuts and bolts of adopting the diet, from deciding whether keto is the right choice to developing a personal plan for smoothly navigating the keto lifestyle. It is invaluable for both beginners and seasoned users of the ketogenic diet, as well as for healthcare professionals who need a toolkit to implement this targeted metabolic therapy.
Kalamian believes in the value of combining conventional treatment strategies with alternative therapies that offer immediate benefits, such as a healthier immune system and improved quality of life, to provide a truly integrated approach to cancer management. Her book offers cancer patients a game plan that lays out the moves and strategies necessary for the nontoxic management of their disease and empowers readers to be an active participant in their treatment.
Miriam Kalamian is a Nutrition Consultant, Educator, and Author specializing in the implementation of ketogenic therapies. She earned her master of education (EdM) from Smith College and her master of human nutrition (MS) from Eastern Michigan University. She is board certified in nutrition (CNS) by the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists. Miriam draws on a decade of experience to provide comprehensive guidelines that specifically address the many diet and lifestyle challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis. Her work also includes integrating nutritional strategies with metabolic therapies and lifestyle modifications to develop personalized treatments that address a broad spectrum of conditions that are currently considered intractable, such as age-related, neurodegenerative and bariatric diseases. Miriam lives in Montana. USA.

Beyond the Brain XII - Further Reaches of Consciousness Research
Regent’s University, London, October 28-29
The Scientific and Medical Network
with The Institute of Noetic Sciences; The Parapsychological Association; International Association for Near Death Studies; Center for Consciousness Studies, University of Arizona
We are very excited to invite you to the 12th Beyond the Brain conference in London this October.
"I regard consciousness as fundamental, matter is derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness. There is no matter as such; it exists only by virtue of a force bringing the particle to vibration and holding it together in a minute solar system; we must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. The mind is the matrix of all matter." - Max Planck
Consciousness is one of the hottest topics in science, which is why we established the interdisciplinary Beyond the Brain conference series with Willis Harman and Edgar Mitchell of the Institute of Noetic Sciences at St John’s College, Cambridge in 1995. This will be the twelfth in the series. The conferences all explore the frontiers of consciousness research beyond the limits of scientific materialism.
We are hosting this year's event in partnership with four organisations that are furthering the boundaries of consciousness research: The Institute of Noetic Sciences, the Parapsychological Association, the International Association for Near Death Studies and the Center for Consciousness Studies, University of Arizona.
Our speakers are all at the cutting edges of their fields and will be discussing innovative research strategies to probe the nature of consciousness. The Alchemical Society, a unique institution in the English-speaking world of its day, provided a forum for a wide spectrum of people scientists, historians, occultists and mystics, who shared a common interest in the subject to meet and debate the various facets of alchemy. The Alchemical Society which was active from 1913 to 1915 and included luminaries such as Arthur Edward Waite, Herbert Stanley Redgrove and Isabelle de Steiger.
Originally published in parts, the Journal has never before been published as a book in its entirety. In addition to the fascinating papers delivered at the society’s meetings with all the subsequent discussions, this complete edition contains all of the material printed within the Journal, including book and periodical reviews, reports of each meeting, the Constitution and Rules of the society, lists of officers, and the original index (for reference to the original issues). together with a list of advertisers in the journal.
These are supplemented by new supporting material, in the form of an historical introduction, brief biographies of all of the contributors, a bibliography of their relevant publications, a brief annotated list of recommended further reading, and a general index. A number of illustrations have also been added to the occasional diagrams of the original text, including portraits, facsimiles and views of the society’s two meeting places.
This publication is further enhanced with a Foreword by Professor Mark Morrisson, the author of Modern Alchemy: Occultism and the Emergence of Atomic Theory (2007), in the preparation of which he made real use of The Journal of the Alchemical Society. Jiaogulan Tea - Research Demonstrates Immune and Age Enhancement Properties
Jiaogulan is a green leafed climbing plant that grows in parts of Asia. Until recently it was used primarily in mountainous regions of southern China and northern Vietnam. Described as the ‘immortality herb’, because people within the Guizhou Province, where jiaogulan herbal teas are consumed regularly, are said to have a history of unusual longevity.
Natu Boutique, have just launched one of the first jiaogulan teas to be available in the UK. The herb produces a delicious drink with a slightly bittersweet taste; Natur Boutique’s drink uses just one pure ingredient, with no additives or flavourings.
New published research demonstrates real clinical benefit. One recent study[1] shows an extract from the plant appears to have beneficial properties in osteoarthritis cells. Another[2] that extracts could help prevent certain aspects of age related memory loss and numerous others[3,4] imply the plant could help boost the immune system and protect against certain diseases. Perhaps most interesting, as the number of cases of Type 2 Diabetes increase worldwide, are two studies[5,6] showing the positive benefits jiaogulan tea could have for those suffering with the condition. In the first,[5] a group of 24 people with Type 2 diabetes were given either a placebo or jiaogulan tea for 12 weeks, alongside information on diet and exercise. After the study period was over various blood measurements were taken and it was found that insulin resistance (a marker that the body isn’t reacting to sugar as it should) had decreased significantly in the jiaogulan tea group compared to the placebo group with the researchers concluding “This study shows a prompt improvement of glycaemia and insulin sensitivity, and thereby provides a basis for a novel, effective, and safe approach, using Gynostemma pentaphyllum (jiaogulan) tea, to treat type 2 diabetic patients.” The second later study[6] was for a shorter period, just four weeks, and similarly concluded “…the results of this placebo-controlled crossover study suggested that the GP (jiaogulan) tea exerted antidiabetic effect by improving insulin sensitivity.”
Please Note: DO NOT use if pregnant, breast feeding or suffering from a medical condition. Because jiaogulan has been linked to boosting the immune system it may not be suitable for those with auto-immune diseases.

Along the way she offers expert insights on how to simplify what we see; which pens and pencils to use; and how to introduce colour – and the end result is a creative guide
