The Connection Between Oral Health and Gut Issues
Pathogenic intestinal permeability, or the more commonly known term “leaky gut” is a dysfunction of the gut that affects a large number of the western population. It presents itself often with multiple food intolerances and can cause pain and discomfort in varying ways. The cause has been fairly well established and is predominantly due to the disintegration of the gut lining, resulting in the leakage of macro-nutrients. This leakage into the systemic circulation triggers an unnatural immune response towards these foreign macro-structures, and an autoimmune attack is ultimately the devastating outcome. The trouble here is that any tissue in the body can be affected depending on where this attack is taking place, which can also be in a different part of the body. Is the attack taking place in the skin, in the heart or in the brain?
I have worked as a dentist for the last 20 years. I’m sure you’re therefore puzzled as to why I am writing on this topic and how on earth your teeth and gums could in any way be related to leaky gut? Many of my patients seek our care because they suffer from an array of various health problems. Part of their consultation involves completing an extensive health questionnaire that goes way beyond their oral health so I can best understand the issues affecting the patient. Over many years I have seen numerous patterns for varying health issues that can be linked to your oral health, and strive to implement the knowledge I have gained from my research, observations, and analysis to inform and assist my own patients wherever I feel I can help. Invariably dysfunctional digestion is listed as a health complaint with many of my patients. Often they have been diagnosed with IBS by their GP and are treated symptomatically as is the norm with conventional, allopathic medicine. However, integrative and biological practitioners (including me the dentist) are typically more curious and seek to try varying approaches to tackle and get to the root cause.
The mouth is literally the gateway to the digestive system, starting with the Gastro Intestinal tract where it joins the mouth. The type of food that we choose to eat, how well we chew it, the bacteria and enzymes we have in our mouths, and finally the materials we use to restore our teeth with can all make a significant difference to the functioning of the gut. I have learnt, and seen first-hand how a few major components in dentistry and the materials we use in the oral cavity have a direct (and sometimes indirect) impact in contributing to leaky gut. As a biological and holistic dentist I can help prevent, and often eliminate these health complications.

Heavy Metal Detox with ACZ Nano
Heavy metals are some of the most potent toxins on the planet and the need for our bodies to be detoxed from these harmful metals is more important than ever. The ACZ Nano formula was born out of the need for highly effective detoxification agent to meet a demanding list of criteria. These are:
- Oral administration;
- Rapid absorption into the bloodstream;
- Selectively binds toxic heavy metals and free radicals of all types, such as Mercury and Lead;
- Irreversibly binds toxic heavy metals and free radicals of all types;
- Does not bind nutrient metals such as Calcium, Magnesium, etc.;
- Immediate, profound benefit; Safe for long term use;
- Backed by independent research.
ACZ Nano is a natural volcanic ash that mechanically binds the metals into its cage-like structure. It has been cleaned with a proprietary process 4 times to remove any contamination and independent testing shows it to have below detectable levels any contamination. It has also been pretreated with calcium, magnesium and potassium and will give these important nutrients to the body as part of the detox process. ACZ Nano is the only Zeolite on the market with over 20 independent post provocation studies to prove how effective the ACZ Nano is in increase urinary excretion of heavy metals. In one of the studies the patient saw an immediate 1000-fold increase in excretion in Mercury over 12hrs of taking the spray. There is a problem with agents like DMPS, EDTA, Chlorella and Cilantro in that some of the toxins that are mobilized will then migrate to other parts of the body, which is especially bad news if they migrate and re-deposit to the brain. So one of the big advantages of ACZ Nano over these other chelating agents is that because the toxins are tightly bound to the zeolite cage none of the metals can be deposited in to other parts of the body. ACZ Nano is easy to take, with no taste, just spray a few times into your mouth and hold for 1 minute, it will be quickly absorbed through the oral tissues and get to work reducing the body of its toxic burden.

Journal of the Alchemical Society
by RA Gilbert (Editor), Mark Morrisson (Foreword)
Published by Imagier Publishing. 2017. Hardback. £45.00. ISBN 1910216267.
The Alchemical Society included luminaries such as Arthur Edward Waite, Herbert Stanley Redgrove and Isabelle de Steiger. This formidable group provided a forum for a wide spectrum of people scientists, historians, occultists and mystics, who shared a common interest in various facets of alchemy.
This is still one of the best introductions to a complex subject, and is eminently understandable by the casual reader. It may have been written one hundred years ago and more, but it is one of the best informed books on the subject I have ever read! Having read numerous books on the subject I can only say that the Journal is an enlightening read from cover to cover, and the support material included is thoughtfully presented. I cannot thank the publisher enough for re-publishing this amazing book.
In addition to the fascinating and informative papers delivered at the society’s meetings with all the subsequent discussions, this complete edition contains all of the material printed within the Journal, including book and periodical reviews, reports of each meeting, the Constitution and Rules of the society, lists of officers, and the original index. The Alchemical Society which was active from 1913 to 1915 prematurely came to an end because of the First World War.
The papers are supplemented by new supporting material, in the form of an historical introduction, brief biographies of all of the contributors, a bibliography of their relevant publications, a brief annotated list of recommended further reading, and a general index. A number of illustrations have also been added to the occasional diagrams of the original text, including portraits, facsimiles and views of the society’s two meeting places. This publication is further enhanced with a Foreword by Professor Mark Morrisson, the author of Modern Alchemy: Occultism and the Emergence of Atomic Theory (2007), in the preparation of which he made real use of The Journal of the Alchemical Society.
The Journal of the Alchemical Society is in hardback format. hardback price, £45.00; To order a copy of the Journal please contact Allan Armstrong via allan@imagier.co.uk. You can also pay by PAYPAL (allan@imagier.co.uk).

Is Healthy Water Purely the Absence of Contaminants?
Many people understand the need to filter their water to remove chemicals from the water that are not helpful to our health. This is necessary but not everyone understands, including people in the industry, that healthy water is not purely water that has contaminants removed. We have seen over the last couple of decades the extensive use of reverse osmosis technology in point of use water treatment. This technology certainly removes contaminants down to very, very low levels but sadly that water is not particularly healthy.
Consumers and the industry are finally grasping that reality by adding on mineral cartridges post treatment, which goes a little way to improving the health benefits of this highly purified water.
Over the last few decades there has been significant strides in understanding the role that water plays in health. Yet much of the supposed advances in medicine have been by scientists fixated on the cell, and ignoring the very fluid that the cell is bathed in. The common misconception being that water is primarily in the body to fill the spaces between the cells.
To many scientists water is just a molecule of two hydrogen atoms bonded to an oxygen atom. However good scientists have long appreciated that good water has got a specific structure. Research is now confirming that this is the case.
Exciting Research on The Fourth Phase of Water
One of the best known centres of excellence for water technology is Dr Gerald Pollack’s laboratory at the University of Washington. Professor Pollack has spent his career advancing our knowledge of the characteristics of healthy water and its role in protecting the function of the cell. Dr Pollack has written the book The Fourth Phase of Water. He has named this water which surrounds healthy cells as Essential Zone Water (EZ). He is of the view that this type of structured water is essential to protect the integrity of cells and their optimal functioning.
His search has shown that certain herbs such as turmeric and holy basil can help expand the fraction of EZ water as can other natural foods such as coconut water or coconut oil. Similarly certain chemicals such as glyphosate (Round Up) can deplete EZ water.
The Power of BIoceramics - Mineral, Ceramics with Power
Consequently it is advisable to give the body as clean as possible water with good structure to aid it in the formation of sufficient suitably structured water to surround our cells. Infra-red energy helps to build EZ water. One of the major advances in point of use water treatment over the last couple of decades has been the use of bioceramic filter media which uses combinations of natural minerals. Some of these minerals emit small amounts of far infra-red energy which has a beneficial structuring effect on water.
Filter systems that combine high levels of purification and embrace the use of bio ceramics to improve water structure are a significant advance in helping to supply the body with the type of water that it can use to fortify our cells and protect our health. With the ever increasing onslaught of pollution from chemicals and EMF’s they provide a foundation to help improve human health.

Watch your Language - A Scientific Example
by Simon Ranger, Founder, Seagreens Trust
Yesterday I was asked for help with another Doctoral thesis about 'seaweed'. "Is there conclusive evidence regarding these nutritional aspects of seaweed consumption?" asked the post grad student. Worse still, "Is there conclusive evidence of these health benefits?" - together with lists of nutrient groups and health conditions loosely associated in the media - and in some cases by scientific research, usually of extracts, with between 20 to 30 very different seaweed species - but certainly not ‘seaweed’.
Seagreens® wild Wrack species Fucus vesiculosus (Bladder Wrack) in Scotland, August 2019
So - and the point I wish to make - is that if we begin with words that are meaningless and data which is all jumbled up and not separated into 'scientific evidence', 'anecdotal' or at the extreme, mythology, not only does it make good questions difficult to answer, it is atrocious science. Given that a post grad works under a senior scientist, either the supervision is absent or senior scientists are setting a bad example!
Some reasonable excuse might be made for such questions about 'vegetables', since there's a long standing body of nutritional and health data for a wide range of vegetables - at least those frequently used by the average UK consumer. But there's nothing like this on 'seaweeds' - 10,000 species worldwide; 600 or so around the British Isles. Moreover, seaweed products sold in the UK will have undergone vastly differing production processes from good to highly dubious. To my knowledge in most of Europe you can count on one hand those species which are accessible, produced to stringent quality standards, with a history of daily use.
Even these barely have a decade of compositional data. Although it is possible to conjecture a wide array of potential health benefits - both from their nutritional profile and anecdotal evidence, some of which confirmed for these species in studies - very few studies have been conducted on the whole food which consumers will actually eat, rather than specific 'extracts', the subject of most scientific research.
These few studies are of native wild Wrack species, whereas the 'seaweed' of the media and it seems even academia, means any seaweed product which for the average consumer, may turn out to be an import from Chile or China, frazzled into a tasty snack with as little nutritional value as a Pringle - but at least they don't claim any health benefits at all.
This is why we're developing the Nutritious Food Seaweed Standard with the Biodynamic Association, to distinguish seaweed species and ingredients certified to minimum nutritional profiles. Details at seaweedhealthfoundation.org.uk/standards.

Pain Relief - Topicals vs. Orals
Understanding your alternatives
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are effective in relieving pain in acute and chronic painful musculoskeletal disorders including osteoarthritis, tendonitis, and muscle strains.
Some of the most powerful pain relievers you can get without a doctor’s prescription come in the form of capsules or pills that you swallow, but there’s a problem. What if you just want to reduce muscle pain in your left knee? After you ingest a pain reliever your body’s going to distribute it everywhere. There’s no way to direct it only where you want it. When you want specific pain relief – especially the sort related to muscle or joint pain topical pain relief products may be considered as alternatives to orals.
Topical pain relievers can work by distributing an anesthetic. If you’ve ever used a spray or gel to soothe the sting of sunburn, you’ve felt this effect. Other types of topical pain relievers can distribute an anti-inflammatory medication or antihistamine to tame the discomfort of insect bites or a skin rash. Some of the most effective topical pain relievers take a different approach and use what is known as counterirritants. The gate control theory of pain suggests that the cooling or heating effects of topical pain relievers block the pain signals [substance P][1] travelling from areas of soreness back to your brain.
The cooling is often created by natural substances such as menthol or camphor. Other topical pain relievers use capsaicin – an ingredient that puts the heat in red hot peppers. This natural approach offers the benefit of getting quick pain relief precisely where you want it, without having to ingest any drugs.
Cautions with topical NSAIDS
If you apply the NSAID to several joints you may exceed the recommended dosage and increase the risk of side effects.

Magdalena Reising – Sound Healing Sessions
Arts and healing are the two passions that have guided me through life. I’m a qualified reflexologist, Swedish massage therapist, aromatherapist, past life regression therapist and reiki master, with an interest in vibrational medicine and sound healing. As a professional musician I’ve released 12 LPs ranging through original folk, [I’m of Polish heritage but bred in Glasgow, so there are both Celtic and mid European influences], to jazz and classical.
During my 5 year residency as harpist on the Cunard Cruise line, travelling the world on the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary and Queen Victoria ships, I would often play pieces of music that people were about to request, before they asked me . My feeling is that the energy of the harp helped me become more tuned into my own intuition . These years were a rich, adventurous and colourful time of my life and I loved singing with the jazz trio and Dixieland too . It was always such a treat having my family as friends come on board too .
Our ship, the Queen Elizabeth , was recently stranded at sea in Australia in March 2020 , unable to dock due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was an unsettling time; understandably many people felt anxious. I used this opportunity to use my skills by offering daily meditations to crew members in a circle . It became an intuitive healing group. Using various cards, we explored meditation techniques and teachings about the body's chakra system.
My intention was to create a positive safe space to go within - finding our inner strengths , unique gifts , balance and guidance.
Currently, I’m back in my home town of Brighton and I am offering a one-to-one intuitive sound healing session on the phone. This session includes music and meditation which will help guide you to what you truly need now - this could be money, health, peace.
I believe that all the answers to life s challenges are within us.
Reviews
"During a time of uncertainty being stuck on the ship during the pandemic, Magdalena gave us a solid constant with being able to meditate every day. It was a safe space for us to feel and be felt which was an enormous release. Magdalena was open and balanced and absolutely wonderful in her teachings. She taught us lots of new ideas and techniques within meditation and every day it would be the happiest place to be. Magdalena has a heart of gold and I miss our meditation circles as it really helped with the uniqueness of our situation and I learnt a lot about myself during these circles."
Laura Pothecary
Magdalena is both a professional harpist and a spiritual seeker. She combines exploration of the chakras with sound healing. Her self-developed therapy is unique and innovative and utilises the full variety of her experience, interests and wisdom. She has the voice of an angel and accompanies herself on the celestial harp. She is intuitive and understands which questions to ask. I learnt a lot. It was transformative, powerful, joyous and releasing. Rather wonderful!

Delhi-based Institute Claims to 'cure' COVID-19 through Cosmic Sound Therapy
By Somrita Ghosh
Republished from newindianexpress.com
NEW DELHI: The Human Energy Research Centre — an organisation based on Public-Private Engagement model — in the national capital has claimed to have found a way to cure the COVID-19 by using an extraordinary sound therapy, electro-frequency vibration.
The therapy, developed by Dr Ramesh Vaish, Ikwan Onwuka and Dr Harsh Rastogi, is claimed to be based on the principle derived from the ancient Vedic philosophy that the entire universe is eternally in a state of subtle vibrations called cosmic sound. Combining this knowledge with the principles of quantum theory applicable to a wave, the experts developed three sound waves.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxqszFW0hSI&vl=en
Vibrational frequencies of coronavirus and two enzymes were decoded, and since each of them have different frequencies, the three sound waves have been designed to deal with each of them.
“This sound therapy is completely harmless, drug-free and does not have any side-effects. There is a lot of physics involved in this technique; it is not a medical process. The sound waves will attack the virus and create resonance. The virus, which has a protein cell layer, starts vibrating and therefore the chemical bond breaks down. The virus cannot sustain beyond a certain energy level,” said Dr Vaish.
A trial was conducted in May on some symptomatic patients in home isolation, who volunteered for it. Along with the therapy, the patients continued their medicinal routine. According to Dr Vaish, the patients showed improvement within days.
“After promising results, we pitched the idea to some hospitals to implement it on interested patients. Some private hospitals have agreed and one is likely to start it in two days,” he said.
The researches claimed that since this therapy doesn’t involve any medical treatment and was to be provided to patients on voluntary basis, any approval from a regulatory authority wasn’t required.
However, they claimed to have informed the Delhi government and received a go-ahead from health minister Satyendar Jain.
During the hour-long therapy, the patients are made to listen three different sounds — including Gayatri Mantra and Maha Mrityunjay Mantra — stage-wise. Each stage has a duration of seven minutes and there’s a gap of five minutes between each stage. Four to six sessions in a span of two-three days are required to complete the course.
They have approached the Health and AYUSH Ministries to implement the therapy on a regular basis and larger scale.
“If approved, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We’ve come to know that a US institute is working on the same concept,” he said.

Lipoprotein(a), the Heart's Quiet Killer: A Diet and Lifestyle Guide
by Joel K Kahn MD and Beverly Lynn Bennett
Published by Book Publishing Company. 2020. Paperback. £13.99. $19.95 ISBN-13 : 978-1570673870
An estimated one in five people worldwide have elevated levels of a type of cholesterol called lipoprotein(a) which can increase the risk for cardiovascular disease, including blocked arteries, blood clots, and stroke. Cardiologist Joel Kahn explains how this condition is a factor of genetics rather than poor lifestyle choices, and the best ways to test effectively for these levels. He shares research that shows plant-based diets in general provide the best defence against heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular disease and can play an important role in protecting individuals with elevated lipoprotein(a) levels. He has partnered with vegan expert Beverly Lynn Bennett who provides dozens of delicious heart-healthy recipes.
This type of cholesterol is widely unknown, and it does not appear in normal testing, leaving people who have high levels of Lp(a) with the very real prospect of being struck down at any time. Fitness trainer Bob Harper, of the television show The Biggest Loser, discovered this fact the hard way: his heart attack occurred while he was working out at a gym. Harper later learned that his high level of Lipoprotein(a) was the culprit. Dr Kahn offers a primer on heart health, explaining the relationship between high Lp(a) and heart disease, pinpointing who needs to get their levels checked, and outlining which types of tests to request. He also reviews common heart medications (such as statins and aspirin) as well as nutraceuticals (such as niacin and coenzyme Q10) alongside new advanced therapies for their ability to lower cholesterol in general and Lp(a) levels in particular. Dr Kahn concludes, however, that the foundation for avoiding cardiovascular disease must always be built on a healthy lifestyle.
Getting adequate sleep and regular fitness, managing stress, not smoking, having a purpose in life, and maintaining social connections are all critical factors in heart health, but the greatest protection comes from eating a whole-foods plant-based diet, as confirmed by recent scientific research. Dr Kahn notes that simply adding fibre and antioxidant supplements to your diet won’t offer the same protections as eating whole foods directly. He teams up with established plant-based cookbook author Beverly Lynn Bennett, who provides dozens of oil-free recipes that feature foods rich in the components found to be the most protective for heart health, such as fiber and phytochemicals.
The most effective strategy for boosting heart health is to incorporate a variety of whole-foods plant-based options into your daily meals, and the wide range of delicious recipes provided in this book will get you off to a fantastic start.
