Clare G Harvey, International Flower Essence expert & author of The Practitioners Encyclopaedia of Flower Remedies, Awarded the Kindred Spirit Complementary Medicine Book of the Year

This is an ancient system of medicine. We will be exploring this ancient system of medicine through the Flower Essences of Australia especially in the area of shock/stress & PTSD, as published in PH Online Issue 234 in her article PTSD, Shock and Trauma - The Role of Flower Essences.

It was the Aboriginal peoples of Australia who drew upon the vitality, strength and healing power of flowers around them, and were one of the first to lay claim to this unique system of medicine. They discovered the therapeutic value of flower essences as effective emotional healers for clearing the build-up of shock & stress in order to regain balance and well-being.
They are considered the grandfathers of this natural healing art.

This will be a practical & certificated workshop on how to use these essences in your practice/clinic or for personal & family use.

Relationship Between Heart Disease and Dental Treatment

This is quite personal to Graeme Munro-Hall as it was his heart disease and its resolution that started him on this path over 35 years ago.

Inflammation is now being recognised as the forerunner of chronic degenerative heart disease. Two of the major contributing factors to this are exposure to mercury and exposure to toxins released from bacteria in the mouth.

Relationship Between Heart Disease and Dental Treatment

Mercury is always being released into the body from dental amalgam. It comes off as particles but also as vapour which is its most dangerous form. This vapour as illustrated in the picture is absorbed through the lungs and is deposited within seconds in the brain and other organs such as the heart. The WHO acknowledged in their paper on mercury in 1990 that the greatest source of exposure to humans was via their amalgam fillings. There has been a Medical Symposia on the connection between mercury and heart disease at which the authors spoke.

Mercury affects the heart by causing functional changes in muscles and cardiac regulation. Initial exposure reduces blood pressure but chronic exposure leads to high blood pressure probably by its action in blocking kidney tubules. Mercury increases the tendency to blood clot formation, increases triglyceride levels and damages the coronary arteries. Our own findings show that patient with heart and lung problems report themselves 70% better seven months after removing amalgam fillings and administering intravenous vitamin c.

Removing amalgam fillings without adequate precautions is not recommended and anyone considering this should make sure the dentist is aware of the correct amalgam removal protocols such as recommended by the www.IAOMT.org .

Infections too can have an effect on your heart. Even conventional dentistry is wakening to the fact that oral bacteria have effects on overall health. The connection between diabetes and oral infection is accepted. Chronic dental infections arise from gum disease which is prevalent in the majority of the adult population, from root canal fillings and from infected holes in the jaw bones called cavitations. A medical researcher some years ago, Dr Vojdani in the USA, discovered that in the plaque that build up in cardiac arteries and weakens the wall leading to cardiac infarctions there was dental bacteria. His method of looking for and identifying the bacteria was by tracking the DNA. He reasoned that bacteria like trout in a stream will migrate to a bend where the flow is slowest and he was right. The bacteria can congregate there and so the arterial plaque builds up, inflammation is the result and degenerative heart disease ensues. This is the topic of our book Toxic Dentistry Exposed and we will expand on damage to health from dental infections in a later article.

Trouble with Metal - Stephen MacAllan

Stephen MacAllan Lic.AC  BAc MAc.  (Licentiate, Bachelors, Masters acupuncture) M.H (Master Herbalist) Cert BERM., (Certificate Bio-Energetic Regulatory Medicine) - Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Natural Healing, Kosmed Treatment, Vega Testing, Rife Treatment

Trouble With Metal

There has been much talk about mercury and attendant health hazards in recent years. Aluminium has also come in for its share of criticism for health risks. I recently attended a conference and a day was spent on the toxicity of dental materials and highlighted was the problem of titanium. Titanium is used as implant pins and in the construction of bridges and dentures. For many years titanium was thought to be inert in the human body but recent studies have found titanium showing up in the liver and other organs. These studies focussed on people with prosthetics – hip/knee/elbow replacements etc.

Stephen MacAllan

There is a further source of titanium exposure, namely titanium dioxide (TiO2) – this source is particularly insidious because no one notices. Titanium dioxide is white and is used in many, many pharmaceutical products and some health food supplements because it makes the product a brilliant white – nothing shouts ‘purity’ louder than ripping open your paracetamol to find a lovely white tablet, that you just know will take care of your headache. Titanium dioxide is also found in sunscreens – it’s white so it reflects all light, so it’s a great sunscreen! This is where it starts to get exceedingly unpleasant. The titanium dioxide in sunscreens is in the form of nano-particles. Nano-particles are extremely small (0.000000001m) and that is very small indeed! Compared to a nanoparticle the skin is like a colander with very large holes so the particles of titanium dioxide penetrate the body. The body has no capacity to deal with nano-particles of anything and is therefore completely unable to excrete the stuff and thus the body will slowly build up a store of titanium dioxide.

As noted above, titanium dioxide is also found in many drugs and some supplements and it is a metal – our bodies do not excrete metals very well at all. This titanium builds up too (though this source can be excreted – albeit very slowly). Titanium accumulates in the liver and in the joints.  My clinical experience suggests that people vary greatly in their ability to detoxify metals and the more metals(s) in their body, the worse the ability to detoxify the stuff. There is  a growing problem of titanium toxicity. The significance of all this that titanium and its’ dioxide cause inflammation, which causes pain – ouch my arthritis is bad today, ouch I’ve got a headache - better take a paracetamol. Think again!

NeuroCranial Restructuring Techniques Restore Original Bone Alignment Patterns

Have you noticed that people’s personalities sometimes change after head injuries? There is a mechanical reason for this: the brain functions with 2 crucial fluids - blood and cerebrospinal fluid, and the flow patterns are made worse. Hydraulics tell us that the flowing patterns for fluids are determined by the shape of the vessel that they flow inside. Head bones change their alignment with traumatic events such as falls, accidents, beatings, dental work, and PTSD events. So these incidents cause changes in brain functions. For one person it can be depression, for another memory lapses, and for a 3rd he/she may have no creativity anymore. Looks change with the altered bone alignments as well because skin is only stretched tightly when the bones are in their ideal positions. Otherwise, they display wrinkles, folds, and creases in the face. Vision, balance, and jaw functions are also affected with changed bone positions.

How NeuroCranial Restructuring can help make you Look and Think Better?

Dr Dean Howell

After the head bones have changed alignments from these assorted incidents, they will sometimes recover and there will be no long-term change. But that is rare; most of the time they do not return and require very specific treatment in order to be returned to their original design. Unfortunately, physical medicine therapy focuses on relief of pain and joint malfunctions - the relief is wonderful but cures are rare. This is why many people see physical medicine therapists very regularly, needing massages, chiropractic treatments, craniosacral therapy, etc. every week or so - forever.

Dr Dean Howell developed NeuroCranial Restructuring techniques over 20 years ago; these are still the only physical medicine concepts and modalities that routinely restore the original bone alignment patterns that rid people of these annoying bony alignment problems.

There is now a 21-year history of successful treatment of many different conditions such as headaches and migraines, sinusitis, double vision, glaucoma, sleep apnea, TMD, anxiety, depression, OCD, anger management, whiplash syndrome, hunchback, swayback, sciatica, and energy-chakra balance problems. All of these conditions are primarily mechanical in causation.

For example, you should not use herbs or pharmaceutical drugs to treat chronic depression. It is better to correct the underlying problem with NCR. As the skull bones gradually move into better and better alignment patterns, the brain fits more and more perfectly inside the skull which means that it is pressed upon less and less by the bones. That’s right, it is rather like the brain is being squeezed all the time, and that’s what makes it malfunction. With NCR we gradually decompress the brain and mechanically relieve much of the body’s stress.

There is now less need of elective plastic surgery, too. Thinking about an eye tuck, cheekbone balancing procedures, or maxillofacial surgery to bring the face and jaw forward? These symptoms can be corrected with NeuroCranial Restructuring!

Fat and Cholesterol Don't Cause Heart Attacks and Statins are Not The Solution

by Paul J. Rosch MD Editor

Published by Columbus Publishing Ltd. 2016. Paperback. £12.99. $13.76. ISBN-10: 190779753X.

This book is dedicated to Uffe Ravnskov MD PhD for his seminal achievements in disputing the dogma that fat and cholesterol cause coronary heart disease, and that statins are safe and cardioprotective for everyone.

Fat and Cholesterol Don't Cause Cancer

As will be seen, no studies support the notion that restricting fat reduces coronary morbidity or mortality. More importantly, government recommendations mandating low fat diets are likely the cause of the escalating epidemic of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Several chapters detail the panoply of significant adverse health effects of statins that have been ignored or suppressed in reports of drug company sponsored trials. These include promoting the development of coronary atherosclerosis and congestive failure.

In addition, the putative benefits of statins are clearly unrelated to lowering LDL or cholesterol, but rather anti-inflammatory and especially anticoagulant activities. This clotting or "atherothrombotic" hypothesis appears to explain all of the factors known to cause or protect against coronary heart disease.

Other chapters by THINCS - The International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics - members discuss the role of infections and sulphur deficiency, and the numerous ways data are doctored to hype the benefits and minimize the dangers of statins. All of these contributions expose the fallacies of the lipid hypothesis, which was called "the greatest scientific deception of this century, perhaps of any century" by the distinguished nutritionist George Mann, former Co-Director of the Framingham Study.

About the Editor

Paul J Rosch MA MD FACP is Clinical Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at New York Medical College, Chairman of the Board of The American Institute of Stress and Honorary Vice President of the International Stress Management Association. He did his internship and residency at Johns Hopkins, and has a Workers Compensation subspecialty rating in cardiology, endocrinology and metabolism. In 1993, he began devoting a series of sessions on the fallacies of the lipid and diet-heart hypotheses at the annual Montreux International Congress on Stress that featured leading authorities from all over the world. This was long before the advent of THINCS and he was unaware of Uffe Ravnskov's contributions at the time. Dr Rosch is a Fellow and Life Member of The American College of Physicians, and has served as President of the New York State Society of Internal Medicine, President of the Pavlovian Society and Expert Consultant on Stress to the United States Centers for Disease Control. He has been the recipient of numerous honours here and abroad, including the Outstanding Physician's Award of the New York State Medical Society, the Innovation Award of The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine, and The I.M. Coconut Milk - The Power of Powder

Whilst coconut oil may have been stealing the headlines, a humble store cupboard staple shares many of its benefits. With a fresh make over coconut milk is again ready to make its mark, both as an exciting ingredient for chefs and an essential addition to healthy customers’ shopping lists…

Coconut Milk Powder

Jam packed with the same fatty acids contained in coconut oil, coconut milk offers both a tropical flavour for cooking and a dairy free vegan alternative to traditional milk (most other coconut milk powders contain lactose). Like dairy milk however, once opened coconut milk has a limited shelf life, causing inevitable waste, and can often be hard to use in recipes where a coconut taste is required without additional liquid.

There’s now a new product on the market which solves these problems, one of the first vegan coconut milk powders from The Coconut Company. Of the highest possible quality, the powder is made from freshly squeezed coconut milk, which is spray dried to create a free flowing powder that easily dissolves.

The organic powder can be used to replace traditional coconut milk, but without any wastage, by simply adding water to create a smooth coconut milk in the exact quantities needed. It is the powder’s increased flexibility which really makes it a must have for anyone interested in healthy meals or exciting tropical dishes however. The powder enables you to easily add a coconut flavour to food, from curries and soups to ice-cream and cakes, and also acts as a great dairy-free thickening agent in baking or a replacement for milk or cream in tea and coffee. It’s also proving a particular favourite with health fans who can sprinkle it on fruit or cereals, to add coconut’s benefits to their food, or throw a scoopful into a pre or post gym smoothie.

A new Tel Aviv study published in the Journal of American Chemical Society (JACS) pinpoints a structural instability in the myelin membranes, the ‘insulating tape’ surrounding neurons. This vulnerability affords the immune system and it attacks access to otherwise protected regions.

    Synthetic Heart Valves Improve Skills

A University of British Columbia (UBC) invention has made it possible for doctors to vastly improve their bypass surgery techniques without relying on animals. The invention, synthetic heart valves, arteries and veins made of polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel which resembles human tissue, was developed by researchers at UBC’s Okanagan campus. The polyvinyls ‘tissue’ makes it possible for surgeons and medical residents to practice bypass surgery techniques using the synthetic material as opposed to the current method of using arteries and veins from dead pigs or human cadavers.
