About Jane Bird
Jane Bird SRN Dip AP Member & Hon. Fellow British Autogenic Society (BAS); Member British Association of Social Functioning (BASF) has been a specialist in short-term self-help since 1983. She trained as an autogenic therapist with the late Dr Wolfgang Luthe (a leading researcher of AT). As a Founder Member of the British Autogenic Society, she has served on its Executive Committee for many years as a tutor and supervisor on the BAS Diploma professional training courses. Jane runs AT courses in private practice, the workplace and complementary health centres. She is currently working as Senior Autogenic Therapist (one of a team of four) at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, Great Ormond Street WC1 where Autogenic Training has been on offer to NHS patients for over 20 years. She works with all age groups in the belief that each person has the power to make profound changes in life, using simple strategies to change attitudes and old habits. Her aim is to help people help themselves to improve their well-being, and gain insight for personal growth and development and her style is to allow the client’s process of change with positive encouragement and gentle challenge in a supportive and safe setting. Jane has have worked with AT in companies, and markedly reduced absentee levels and is the co-author of Autogenic Therapy: self-help for mind and body Gill & Macmillan. 2002.
