CUNNINGHAM and HERBERT , University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Philadelphia, USA reviewed common 'alternative' nutritional strategies used by patients as primary or adjunctive treatments for cancer .

Data sources reviewed were government reports, textbook chapters, published articles and research reports.
Results
The use of diet and nutrition to prevent or treat disease was one of six [main] fields of alternative medicine . Several dietary regimens have been purported to be effective in the treatment of cancer, but most have been inadequately tested with regard to safety and efficacy.

Yes, I and many others have been advocating for many years the devotion of serious funding regarding nutritional regimes for cancer treatment; however I cannot imagine that the extremely healthy cancer diets most commonly advocated, containing wholefoods, fruits and vegetables, with few nutritional 'poisons' such as caffeine, alcohol, sugar, really need to be tested for safety. The above 'research' is really published just to get the authors' names into print.
