Abstract
KUMAR and SHANMUGASUNDARAM, Department of Medical Biochemistry, Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Madras, Taramani Campus, Chennai 600 113, India, introduce Amrita Bindu, an antioxidant inducer therapy for childhood asthma.
Background
Antioxidants have been shown to control inflammatory processes. Amrita Bindu is an Ayurvedic health food supplement that has been shown to be an antioxidant inducer in animal experiments.
Methodology
Amrita Bindu was tested as a supplement to therapy for 1 months in 36 children with asthma. Patients were followed up by monitoring their clinical condition, consumption of anti-asthma drugs, free radical generation, lipid peroxidation, and blood antioxidant levels.
Results
At the end of 3 months on Amrita Bindu, all children had stopped all anti-asthma drugs and were free from asthma attacks.
Conclusion
Amrita Bindu appears to radically improve childhood asthma.

Comment
This result is impressive. However this is a tiny sample. All 36 children, after only one month using this supplement, were free from asthma attacks. Asthma is currently occurring as an epidemic in children in Western countries, and drug treatments are only palliative and preventive to asthma attacks, rather than curative. The research ought to be repeated with larger sample sizes of children.
