Abstract

LANDMARK, Institutt for farmkoterapi, Oslo, Norway writes that cardiovascular morbidity and mortality is relatively low in people consuming high quantities of fish oils containing omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids), which has been mainly attributed to the anti-atherogenic and anti-thrombotic effects of these oils.

Conclusion

It is possible that the effects of fish oils upon arrhythmias is independent of their anti-atherogenic and anti-thrombotic activities and there is also evidence that fish oils affect ion fluxes in cardiomyocytes.
