Abstract
LU and ZHONG, Department of Endocrinology, Affiliated Hospital of Ganna Medical College, Jiangxi 341000, LWM421@tom.com, describe clinical observations on the treatment of diabetic foot with integrative Chinese and Western medicine.
Background
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of integrative Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of diabetic foot.
Methodology
63 patients were randomly divided into a treatment group (n = 33) and a control group (n = 30). Both groups were treated with the same combination of vasodilator, anti-agglutination agents, and external treatment. Patients in the treatment group received additionally Chinese drugs according to the Symptom Differentiation.
Results
In the treatment group, the treatment was effective in a total of 90% of patients compared to 76.7% in the control group (p < 0.05). The number of cases of Grade II, II, and IV in the treatment group was reduced, and those recovered to Grade 0 increased as compared to the control group. More patients in the treatment group had healed ulcerative wounds and fresh wound granulation than the control group (p < 0.05).
Conclusion
The efficacy of an Integrative Chinese and Western Medical treatment was better than Western medical treatment alone.
