Abstract
SEMERCI and COLLEAGUES, 1 Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Child Health and Disease Nursing, Trakya University, Edirne, Turkey; 2 Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Trakya University, Edirne, Turkey; 3 Department of Nursing Administration, Trakya University Hospital, Edirne, Turkey; 4 Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, Trakya University, Edirne, Turkey conducted a study to investigate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation exercises on compassion satisfaction, burnout, and compassion fatigue of nurse managers.
Background
The authors wished to investigate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation exercises on compassion satisfaction, burnout, and compassion fatigue of nurse managers.
Methodology
A pre-test, post-test, one-group quasi-experimental study was carried out with 30 nurse managers and they were received "Jacobson: Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercises" in a group once in a week for 8 weeks.
Results
After the second month, the mean compassion fatigue (p < 0.01) and the mean burnout scores (p = 0.01) were decreased.
Conclusion
It is recommended to expand progressive muscle relaxation exercises and to conduct studies in different groups to increase the professional quality of life.
