Listed in Issue 104
Abstract
ULIANOV and co-workers have performed a comparative assessment of different reflexotherapies in patients with ischaemic angiopathies of the legs.
Background
The study compares acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and thermopuncture in the treatment of impaired blood flow to the legs.
Methodology
124 patients with ischaemic angiopathies were treated. Diagnosis of the disease and treatment efficacy was based on clinical, laboratory and special instrumental examinations.
Results
Functional examination revealed equal response in peripheral blood flow to the different techniques. Moderate hypocoagulation compared to baseline was observed. Improvement of general condition and decrease of pain as well as improvement in biochemical and physiological parameters showed successful treatment.
Conclusion
The results of this study have helped to develop methods of treatment with different variants of reflexo-therapies and recommendations for clinical practice.
