Abstract
WILBURN and others, University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, University, MS, USA, have reviewed (39 references) the natural treatment of hypertension. Abstract: The review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of commonly available nutritional supplements in reducing blood pressure. Effectiveness is defined as evidence that an agent can reduce diastolic blood pressure by at least 5 mm Hg and systolic blood pressure by at least 9 mm Hg. The evidence needs to be present in published, peer-reviewed trials. Supplements with some evidence of benefit in hypertension include coenzyme Q10, fish oil, garlic, vitamin C, and the amino acid L-arginine.
