Abstract
ZHANG and colleagues, Hangzhou Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hangzhou 310007, Zhejiang Province, China, describe their clinical observations of 102 cases of chronic pelvic inflammation treated with qi jie granules.
Background
The aim of the study was to observe the effect of Qi Jie granules on chronic pelvic inflammation.
Methodology
102 patients with chronic pelvic inflammation were treated with Qi Jie granules, and 70 patients were treated with Qian Jin Pian as a control. Therapeutic effects, T-lymphocyte subgroups, and indices of blood rheology were observed.
Results
The total effective rate in the treatment group was 96% compared to 84% in the control group, with the difference between the two being statistically significant (p < 0.01). Qi Jie granules improved blood viscosity (p < 0.05) and regulated T-lymphocyte subgroups (p < 0.01) significantly.
Conclusion
Chronic pelvic inflammation is due to qi deficiency and blood stagnation. It is thought that the therapeutic effect of Qi Jie granules may be related to improved blood circulation, accelerated inflammatory absorption and regulated immune function.
